Creating beautiful and vibrant Christmas ornaments doesn’t have to be expensive or overly complicated – in today’s post we’ll explore how you can make DIY easy paper Christmas ornaments that are not only fun and affordable but also add a unique and personalized touch to your Christmas decor.

3D Snowflakes

Kick off your festive crafting with the all-time classic – 3D snowflake designs. The supplies you need include white paper, scissors, a ruler, glue, and a stapler. Begin by cutting six squares from the paper. These can be of any size – smaller squares will result in petite snowflakes, while larger ones will make grand, eye-catching decorations.

Next, fold each square diagonally, then fold them again to create smaller triangles. Make three parallel cuts along the folded edge – it’s important not to cut all the way through. Unfold your paper, and you’ll find a series of square openings.

Roll the innermost squares and glue their corners together. For the next pair of squares, flip the paper over and glue them together. Continue this process, alternating the flipping and the gluing. This creates a 3D effect for your snowflake. Repeat the process with the remaining five squares and join them at the centers and tips using a stapler or glue, and voila, your 3D snowflake is ready.

Paper Strip Sphere Ornament

Another simple yet pleasing paper ornament is the paper strip sphere. You’ll need colorful cardstocks, a paper cutter, a hole punch, twine or ribbon, and metal brads.

Start by cutting out equal strips out of your chosen cardstock. Sixteen should be enough for one sphere. The length of the strips can affect the size of the sphere; longer strips will result in a bigger sphere.

Using a hole punch, make holes at both ends of each strip. Stack all strips, aligning the holes, and secure with a metal brad. Fan out the strips and then bring the free ends together at the top, securing it again with a brad. Attach twine or ribbon to the top brad for hanging.

These paper strip spheres look fantastic alone or in different size clusters, and you can make them from recycled materials, making these a sustainable and beautiful choice.

Paper Pinecones

Paper pinecones are an enchanting addition to the Christmas tree. You’ll need craft paper, a small foam egg, floral wire, hot glue, and a tiny piece of branch or cinnamon stick.

Cut your paper into teardrop shapes. Attach floral wire to your foam egg and insert your branch or cinnamon stick at the top, to mimic a real pinecone stem. Starting from the bottom, hot glue your paper pieces on the egg, layering them until you reach the top. Now simply attach an ornament hook to the wire and it’s ready to hang.

Paper Stars

Paper stars are another Christmas favorite. For this, you will need yellow or any colored paper, scissors, and glue.

Begin by cutting out an even number of squares from your paper. Fold each square diagonally to create triangular halves and fold again for a smaller triangle. Repeat the process from the opposite corner. You’ll have two intersecting creases on your square, divide it into quarters. Hold the paper with the creases forming an X and fold two opposite corners towards the center. You’ll have a folded rectangle. Repeat all these steps for four squares.

To assemble, take one folded piece and add glue on one-quarter of the X crease. Attach another folded piece on top, synchronizing the lines. Keep stacking until all pieces are glued together. Allow the glue to dry and spread the sides out to form a star.

These can be made in a variety of sizes and are perfect for decorating your Christmas tree, mantle, or wreaths.

Paper Poinsettias

You’ll need red craft paper, yellow craft paper, green craft paper, and glue. Cut out five teardrop-shaped petals from the red paper, a circular base from the green paper, and small circles from the yellow paper.

Glue the petals onto the green base, with the points inward. Once the glue is dry, attach the yellow circles in the center of the green base. These poinsettias look gorgeous and give a merry feel to any room.

Creating DIY easy paper Christmas ornaments can provide a fun and fulfilling holiday experience for both experienced crafters and novices alike. Remember that you can play around with materials and techniques until you find what works best for you, resulting in a festive season filled with unique and personalized décor.
